With a population of over 185,000 in the local area, the Tri-Cities have been vastly developed. This growth is expected to continue through this decade and beyond. The Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) estimates that the population of the local region will increase to over 250,000 in the next 25 years. There is an extensive land supply available to accommodate this growth including Westwood Plateau and Burke Mountain in Coquitlam; the northern areas and Heritage Mountain in Port Moody; as well as the Riverwood area in Port Coquitlam.
