Coquitlam is a dynamic city committed to community based living. It is a vibrant growing city with beautiful parks, green spaces, arts, and cultural venues as well as multiple recreation facilities. Visitors are warmly welcomed, businesses excel and residents are valued.
Located within a 30 minute drive of downtown Vancouver, the US border, the Vancouver International airport, and the Abbotsford Airport, Coquitlam can be considered the “Heart of the Lower Mainland.” Coquitlam is bordered by Port Moody to the north, Port Coquitlam to the east, New Westminster to the South, and Burnaby to the west. The natural beauty of the Lower Mainland is abundant with the Fraser River along the southern border and Pitt River on the east as well as the beautiful B.C. Coast Mountain Range to the north.
The four distinct areas of Coquitlam include Southwest Coquitlam, The Town Centre, Westwood Plateau, and Northeast Coquitlam.
Southwest Coquitlam has well established public amenities, commercial services and residential neighborhoods. Further amenities include the Poirier Recreation Center including Chimo Pool, Public Library, Dogwood Pavilion, Vancouver Golf Course, Spani Pool, and many more parks including Mackin Park, Blue Mountain Park, Como Lake, Mundy Park, and Riverview Forest. The industrial and business parks are located between the Lougheed Highway and the Fraser River.
The Town Centre is a newer community. The City Centre Aquatic Complex, Town Centre Stadium, Evergreen Cultural Centre, Public Library, Pinetree Community Centre, and the David Lam campus of Douglas College are all located in this sector. There are also many hiking trails along Hoy Creek, Coquitlam River and circumferencing Lafarge Lake.
Westwood Plateau, located north of the Town Centre features prime residential development including cluster homes, townhomes, single family houses, Westwood Plateau Golf Course (pictured above), and Westwood Plateau Golf Academy. There are numerous creeks and walking trails to enjoy the natural setting.
Northeast Coquitlam includes Minnekhada Regional Park and part of Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. There are well-established neighbourhoods in addition to rural properties located in this sector of Coquitlam.
